About Us
A Bit of Background -
The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, otherwise known as the Black Panther Party (BPP), was established in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. The two leading revolutionary men created the national organization as a way to collectively combat white oppression. After constantly seeing black people suffer from the torturous practices of police officers around the nation, Newton and Seale helped to form the pioneering black liberation group to help build community and confront corrupt systems of power.our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of activities we’re involved in. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.
In 1969, co-founder Bobby Seale was bound and gagged in a Chicago courtroom; spokesman Eldridge Cleaver fled attempted murder charges to Algeria; rival militants murdered two Panthers on the UCLA campus; police killed Panther leader Fred Hampton in Chicago; and a tense summer left two more Panthers dead and at least three men (Butch Lewis, John Savage and Sylvester Bell) wounded in a racially torn city.
